MEET THE TRAINER

Adrian Nicholls

Adrian has lived and breathed racehorses from the day he was born. From the early days going racing with his Father dandy (David Nicholls) where he received his nick name trotter from the lads in weighing room because he trotted behind dandy’s every step. At the early age of 15 Adrian went to ride in Norway after finding a loop hole in the age restrictions. After 3 months off racing he was then teamed up with Barry hills at his legendary stables as stable apprentice, whilst there for a year and a half learning a great deal. Adrian was then offered a role at kingcleare stables as stable apprentice to Derby winning trainer Ian Balding this was a great learning curve learning about all aspects of racing within 3 years he rode out his claim in the Ayr gold cup. Adrian continued his upward rise in the weighing room riding multiple group and listed winners, including two group ones this was the highlight of a career that expanded over 19 years riding all over the world riding winners in 12 country’s along the way. All the time learning different ways off training and horse care. Adrian now embarks on his dream role as a trainer putting all theses skills to use along him is Clare his wife was born into racing in Ireland her father and brother former trainers.  Clare was apprentice to Adrian’s father David learning from him and key member of staff Ben Beasley she has a vast understanding of all aspects of horse care and is Adrian’s right hand lady.
